Manuel Alvarez and Daniel Alvarez of Franklin Lakes Arrested On Drug Charges

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrests of MANUEL ALVAREZ (DOB: 3/22/1992) and DANIEL ALVAREZ (DOB: 5/29/1993) of 415 Cobblestone Court, Franklin Lakes, New Jersey on drug charges.

These arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Narcotic Task Force under the direction of Chief Carmen MARTINO, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit under the direction of Sheriff Michael SAUDINO, the Midland Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael POWDERLEY, and the Franklin Lakes Police Department under the direction of Chief Carmine D. PEZZUTI.

Pursuant to this investigation, it was determined that controlled dangerous substances were being distributed from the Alvarez residence.

On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, police personnel located and seized the following from the Alvarez residence: over one (1) pound of marijuana, various suspected steroids, drug paraphernalia consistent with the distribution of controlled dangerous substances, and nineteen thousand four hundred and forty two dollars ($19,442.00) in U.S. currency.

The approximate street value of the controlled dangerous substances seized on this date was three thousand five hundred dollars ($3,500.00).

Manuel ALVAREZ and Daniel ALVAREZ were each charged with one (1) count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Marijuana, in a Quantity Greater than One (1) Ounce but Less than Five (5) Pounds, a third degree crime; one (1) count of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Steroids, a third degree crime; and one (1) count of Hindering Apprehension by Concealing or Destroying Evidence, a third degree crime.

Manuel ALVAREZ and Daniel ALVAREZ were each issued a Summons and released on their own recognizance pending a court appearance on May 25, 2016.

Acting Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, the Midland Park Police Department, and the Franklin Lakes Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
