Michelle Obama: 'I love catching up with the gossip of the life of my daughters'

The great relationship that Barack Obama has with Malia and Sasha is no secret. As the President of the United States showed that he loves to share trips with the adolescents and even considers his eldest daughter one of his "best friends". Now his wife, Michelle Obama, has revealed what is the most fun to do during the family dinners.

The First Lady, Michelle Obama, revealed that she loves talking about the gossip surrounding her daughters, Malia and Sasha.

"I love catching up with the gossip of the life of my children, what friends are angry with who... I love all the gossip," said the First Lady during the day when employees of the House white took their children to work.

April 22nd marked the eleventh year that the White House has participated in “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day,” and the second year that the Administration has celebrated by opening their doors to include students from local schools in the D.C. area. This was a joint initiative between the Office of Management and Administration, the White House Council on Women and Girls, My Brother’s Keeper Initiative, and Domestic Policy Council. The theme for this year’s event was “Fire Up Your Future.”

More than 250 children met with staff throughout the morning to learn about different jobs at the White House. During the visit, the children got a behind-the-scenes look into the making of West Wing Week, and got a tour of the President’s vehicle, The Beast.

Michelle opened the doors of their home delighted to be surrounded by children.

In a session of questions and answers, the First Lady revealed that when the family arrived at the White House, her daughters were small and had fun in their new home, but eventually began to miss having a life equal to that of all girls their age: "Malia and Sasha were in the fifth grade and second grade. So it was important to make sure their rooms felt like little-kid rooms and not like they were living in a museum (...) But as they grew older it became less exciting to live in a museum and they wanted to live in a normal home."

In 2015, during an interview on Live with Kelly and Michael, the First Lady revealed the feature of her daughters that resembled herself the most. Michelle jokingly said: "They talk too much, as I do".

Apparently, Malia and Sasha received this inheritance from Michelle’s side of the family, as other siblings also confessed that they love talking, something that reminded Michele of her childhood. This is why it is not surprising that what’s most fun to do with her daughters is catch up on their lives and learn what is happening around them.

The young women, who are serving more active roles during the last period of Barrack Obama’s presidency, are considered one of the most influential teenagers in the world. Despite this, Barrack and Michelle made sure that their daughters had a childhood as normal as possible while living inside the White House because they were always aware of how difficult it could be for their girls growing up under public scrutiny.
