(Englewood, New Jersey; September 27, 2016) -- The Community Chest and the Tenafly High School Key Club partnered to celebrate the fourth annual Tenafly Community Night with businesses and other service organizations in the borough on September 12. Local residents came together as a community on Tenafly's Riveredge Road and were introduced to the borough's businesses and resources. The Tenafly Police and Recreation Departments sponsored the event.

Founded in 1932, The Community Chest, a nonprofit, 501 c(3) tax-exempt organization based in Englewood, supports local not-for-profit agencies serving people in need in Tenafly, Englewood Cliffs, and the city. The Tenafly High School Key Club's members embraced The Community Chest's motto, "Neighbors Helping Neighbors", and volunteered at its table.

"The Community Chest was delighted to participate in the Tenafly Community Night, especially in partnership with Tenafly High School's Key Club. This partnership aligned with The Chest's goal of enhancing opportunities for young people to participate in philanthropic activities," said Shelly Wimpfheimer, Executive Director.

"Tenafly High School Key (Kiwanis Educated Youth) Club is a part of a youth leadership and service organization that focuses on many events that reflect on our values of serving our homes, schools, and communities. Similarly, The Community Chest builds upon the motto, 'Neighbors Helping Neighbors'. Key Clubbers decided to work with The Community Chest because it is one of the many ways they can fulfill their purpose as a club and serve as members of our community," said Katherine Sung, Tenafly High School Key Club President.

These youthful philanthropists explained to younger children The Chest's mission of caring about others in the community and asked them to sign a pledge to do the same. The Chest sponsored an art contest featuring the motto. The Key Club's volunteers announced the contest and attracted over 20 local youngsters to submit their drawings to the contest.

Alexander Ng, a fifth grade student at the Maugham School in Tenafly, enjoys drawing as a hobby. He won first place in the art contest and a small prize from The Community Chest. "Alexander's heartwarming drawing captured fully the essence of the concept of helping others," said Wimpfheimer.

"My experience working with The Community Chest was an unforgettable one. The Key Clubbers and I were able to reach out to the community in a positive manner that was both rewarding and fun. It was an honor to have worked with the Executive Director of The Community Chest, Shelly Wimpfheimer, because she reflects a hard-working and dedicated member of her community. It was a great night, and I definitely had a lot of fun!" said Sung.
