Angel Argueta-Diaz of Lyndhurst Charged With Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact and Child Endangerment
Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. GREWAL announced the arrest of ANGEL ARGUETA-DIAZ of 418 Valley Brook Avenue, 2nd Floor, Lyndhurst, New Jersey (DOB: 2/10/1981) on charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact.
The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit, under the direction of Officer in Charge, Deputy Chief Robert ANZILOTTI and the Lyndhurst Police Department, under the direction of Chief James B. O’CONNOR.
On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, the Lyndhurst Police Department received a report of a thirteen-year-old juvenile female being touched inappropriately by Angel ARGUETA-DIAZ.
The Lyndhurst Police Department notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and a joint investigation ensued.
Following the investigation, Angel ARGUETA-DIAZ was arrested and charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a 2nd degree crime and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3a, a 3rd degree crime.
The Honorable Gary N. WILCOX, J.S.C. set bail at $100,000.00 with no ten percent option.
As conditions of bail, Angel ARGUETA-DIAZ is to have no contact with the victim or victim’s family and must surrender his passport.
He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail and is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.
Acting Bergen County Prosecutor GREWAL states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Lyndhurst Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
