Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of MATTHEW D. SAALFRANK (DOB: 9/22/1995) of 7 Balsam Court, Upper Saddle River, New Jersey on a drug possession charge. This arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Narcotic Task Force, under the direction of Chief Carmen MARTINO, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit, under the direction of Sheriff Michael SAUDINO, the Mahwah Police Department, under the direction of Chief James N. BATELLI, and the Upper Saddle River Police Department, under the direction of Chief Patrick A. ROTELLA.

Pursuant to this investigation, it was determined that Matthew D. SAALFRANK was involved in the distribution of controlled dangerous substances in the area of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.

On Friday, April 29, 2016, police personnel executed a search warrant at Mr. SAALFRANK’s residence. As a result of searching this location, police personnel located and seized approximately forty (40) grams of hash-oil, a wax-like substance extracted from marijuana that contains a high concentration of THC.

Drug paraphernalia consistent with the packaging and distribution of controlled dangerous substances was also seized from this location.

Matthew D. SAALFRANK was charged with one (1) count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, namely Hashish, in a Quantity Greater than Five (5) Grams but Less than One (1) Pound, a third degree crime.

Acting Prosecutor Grewal states that this charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, the Mahwah Police Department, and the Upper Saddle River Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
